All Stealth Electric Outboard Models are designed to work with any battery, as long as it meets the voltage requirements and continuous current output requirements. Our approach to batteries is a simple one...it's up to you. However, we recommend lithium batteries for best performance.
Both the Stealth Switch and the Stealth 70HP have a broad input voltage range that makes it possible for you to pick the battery that's right for you to achieve that perfect balance of budget and performance. Here are some examples of how that could work.
The Stealth Switch can accept a battery with a 60V, 72V or 96V nominal voltage and up to 200-amp continuous discharge current. One example of a possible battery configuration is a 72V, 100Ah lithium battery that is capable of a continuous discharge current of 200-amps. That battery can provide enough power for the Stealth Switch to deliver almost 20 horsepower of input power. A conservative rule of thumb is that every 40 pounds of gross weight, that is to say hull, outboard, batteries, passengers, gear, etc., will require one horsepower. In the afore mentioned example, the Stealth Switch with a 72V lithium battery capable of 20 horsepower. That would plane an 800 pound boat. Another example would be a 96V battery capable of a continuous discharge current of 200-amps. That battery can provide enough power for the Stealth Switch to produce over 25 horsepower, which will plane a boat over 1,000 pounds.
The Stealth 70HP can accept a battery with a 120V or 144V nominal voltage and up to 375-amp continuous discharge current. One example of a possible battery configuration is a 144V, 160Ah lithium battery that is capable of a continuous discharge current of 200-amps. That battery can provide enough power for the Stealth 70HP to deliver almost 39 horsepower of input power. A conservative rule of thumb is that every 40 pounds of gross weight, that is to say hull, outboard, batteries, passengers, gear, etc., will require one horsepower. In the afore mentioned example, the Stealth 70HP with a 144V lithium battery capable of 39 horsepower. That would plane a 1,500 pound boat. Another example would be a 144V battery capable of a continuous discharge current of 375-amps. That battery can provide enough power for the Stealth 70HP to produce over 70 horsepower, which will plane a boat over 2,800 pounds.
